FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method of producing 6-methyluracil-5-ammonium sulphate. Obtained compound is an intermediate product in synthesis of 5-hydroxy-6-methyluracil ((oxymethacil, Immurega) and its 1(3)-(di)methyl derivatives. 5-Hydroxy-6-methyluracil is an immunostimulant with a wide range of pharmacological activity. Method of producing 6-methyluracil-5-ammonium sulphate involves oxidation of 6-methyluracil with ammonium persulphate in an alkaline medium at 40–70 °C in the presence of a phthalocyanine catalyst, preferably cobalt phthalocyanine, iron (II), iron (III), manganese, nickel, zinc in amount of 0.001–0.05 wt% followed by cooling of reaction mixture, acidification thereof with concentrated sulfuric acid to pH 6–7, separation of product by filtration followed by crystallisation from water with carbon.

EFFECT: method enables to obtain the end product with output of up to 46–92 %.
