SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to surgery and electrotherapy, and can be used for prevention of lower extremity vein thrombosis during operations on the ankle joint. The method includes electrical myostimulation (EMS) of the leg muscles during and after the operation. EMS is performed using a portable neuromuscular stimulator Veinoplus-DVT by placing contact electrodes in the area of the head of the fibula in the area of the common peroneal nerve of both legs. Before the operation, before the introduction of anesthesia, the intensity corresponding to the level of 15 units is select for the portable neuromuscular stimulator Veinoplus-DVT and maintained until the end of the operation. After the operation, compression hosiery is applied to both legs and EMS is applied every 2-4 hours for a duration of 20-40 minutes at an intensity corresponding to the Veinoplus-DVT level of 25 units.
