WOUND EXPANDER FOR SURGICAL OPERATIONS IN THE ABDOMINAL AND THORACIC CAVITIES WITH AUTOMATED SHAPING OF THE SURGICAL WOUND Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B17/02

Abstract RU 2786817 C1

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, in particular, to pushing surgical instruments applied in surgical operations in the abdominal and thoracic cavities. Wound expander consists of a set of pushing blocks in the amount of 2 to 4, wherein each block consists of a clamp for the attachment to the operating table and a working part attached to the clamp and equipped with a pushing hook for capturing and retaining biological tissues. The clamp has an eccentric clamping mechanism for attachment to the operating table and an element providing angular movement of the working part relative to the axis of attachment to the clamp in the horizontal plane, equipped with a screw fastener. The working part consists of a curved telescopic rack configured to swing, and consists of a guided support installed on the clamp; an element for retaining the pushing hook, configured to move along the guides of the support in order to adjust the length of the working part and equipped with handles of the eccentric clamp intended to secure the element for retaining the pushing hook relative to the support. An electronic unit is placed on the clamp, said unit including an electric drive placed on a suspended chassis, configured to drive the helical transmission ensuring the angular movement of the working part relative to the clamp around a horizontal axis, and a strain sensor for tracking the axial load on the helical transmission, caused by the pushed-back biological tissues in the process of spreading the edges of the wound and transmitted thereto through the coupled pushing hook for capturing and retaining biological tissues, element for retaining the pushing hook, and support. The wound expander comprises an external control unit.

EFFECT: possibility of increasing the sector of approach to the surgical wound, reducing the number of assistants required during operations, optimising the distribution of load on the wound edges, and resulting in the minimisation of trauma rate to the repressed biological tissues, reduction in the time for shaping the surgical wound, and increase in the efficiency of operations.
