FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, specifically to the method for thin-layer chromatography, and can be used to quantify the ingredients of a reaction mixture formed during the catalytic oxidation of N-(phosphonomethyl)-iminodiacetic acid (FIDUC) with hydrogen peroxide to form N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine (glyphosate). The claimed method for analysis comprises: separation of the components of the reaction mixture by ascending thin-layer chromatography on plates with a fixed sorbent layer; post-derivatization of plates, consisting in modification of separated analytes (FIDUC, N–oxide FIDUC and glyphosate) on the plate in order to make them visible in the UV region; quantitative determination of analytes by comparing the intensity values of their fluorescence with external standards. In this case, the modification of the separated analytes on a plate with a fixed sorbent layer is performed by treating the plate with a solution of cis-aconite anhydride in acetic anhydride with a concentration of ~ 1 g in 100 ml of anhydride.
EFFECT: invention disloses a method for quantitative determination by TLC of the main components of the reaction mixture formed during the oxidation of FIDUC to glyphosate, and can be used in the conditions of industrial production of glyphosate.
