FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to medical diagnostics, and can be used to predict the risk of developing diabetic distal polyneuropathy in women with type 2 diabetes mellitus. A sample of peripheral venous blood is taken. After DNA extraction, a polymorphic variant of the small GTPase gene RAC1 rs7784465 (T>C) is analyzed. If the rs7784465-C allele is detected, an increased risk of developing diabetic distal polyneuropathy in women with type 2 diabetes is predicted. When the rs7784465-T/T genotype is detected, a low risk of developing diabetic distal polyneuropathy in women with type 2 diabetes is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides for obtaining new criteria for assessing the risk of developing diabetic peripheral neuropathy in women of Central Russia with type 2 diabetes mellitus according to the genetic polymorphism rs7784465 (T>C).
