SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video compression technologies and to external and internal prediction in advanced video codecs. Proposed is a decoding method that may include the following: receiving a bit stream including compressed video/image data; obtaining an indicator of the output layer set mode in a video parameter set (VPS) from the bit stream by analysing or deriving; identifying the signalling of the output layer set based on the indicator of the output layer set mode; identifying one or more image output layers based on the identified signalling of the output layer set; and decoding of one or more of the identified image output layers.
EFFECT: higher effectiveness of encoding/decoding.
