SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for generating a sound in an aerosol generating device, a non-short-term computer-readable medium, an aerosol generating device, a user interface device and a system containing an aerosol generating device. The method for generating a sound in the aerosol generating device, which contains a sound generator, an aerosol generator for generating aerosol from aerosol generating substrate of one or more types and a controller functionally connected to the sound generator and the aerosol generator, includes stages, at which the user’s action is tracked, sound data is selected, representing sound from a set of sounds based on the type of aerosol generating substrate, wherein the specified set of sounds contains two or more sounds simulating the sound of the usual use of smoking material for use with different types of aerosol generating substrates, and a sound is generated using the sound generator based on the tracked user action and sound data. The sound can simulate the sound of one or more common uses of different smoking materials, emit masking noise, or contain information. The generated sound can be modulated based on a user’s puff. A user interface can be provided for configuring the aerosol generating device, which can include the selection of smoking material to simulate. The aerosol generating device stores a library of sounds for use with aerosol generating substrates of different types.

EFFECT: possibility is provided to emit a specific sound in response to the detection of different types of aerosol generating substrate.
