FIELD: information protection.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of protection of valuable documents and valuable commercial goods from counterfeit and illegal reproduction. On substrate in the form of a protected document or a decorative element, a layer with an optical effect (OEL) is obtained, providing an optical image of half-moon moving and rotating with inclination of the specified substrate. For obtainment of the specified layer with an optical effect, a composition for coating, containing non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles, cured under radiation, is applied to a surface of substrate. The specified composition for coating, cured under radiation, is in the first state in the form of a liquid state. The specified composition for coating is subjected to impact of a magnetic field by means of a magnetic assembly for provision of orientation of at least part of non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles.

EFFECT: obtainment of protective signs representing on substrate a bright loop-shaped effect drawing attention of a good quality, while the specified protective signs can be easily checked but they are hard to reproduce at an industrial scale, using equipment available for a counterfeiter, and which can be provided in a large number of different shapes and forms.
