FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnetic assemblies and methods of producing optical effect layers (OEL) containing magnetically oriented plate-like magnetic or magnetisable pigment particles. In particular, the present invention provides magnetic assemblies, and methods for magnetic orientation of plate-like magnetic or magnetisable pigment particles in coating layers to obtain OEL, and use of said OEL as anti-counterfeit agents on protected documents or protected articles, as well as for decorative purposes. Method of producing optical effect layers (OEL) on a substrate includes a step of exposing a coating composition containing plate-like magnetic or magnetisable pigment particles, effect of magnetic field of magnetic assembly with biaxial orientation of at least part of plate magnetic or magnetisable particles of pigment.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain improved magnetic assemblies and a reliable, easy-to-implement method of producing a uniform biaxial magnetic orientation of the plated magnetic or magnetisable pigment particles contained in the coating layers, for formation of layers with optical effect (OEL) using industrial high-speed equipment for printing, in particular rotating magnetic cylinders.
