FIELD: seismology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of seismology and can be used to determine the beginning of the period of activation of the volcano. Noise seismic records are recorded on the volcano. Seismic records are divided into fragments, the amplitude spectra of standing waves are calculated, and the obtained spectra are averaged over the time window. The obtained frequencies of the lowest vibrational modes are compared throughout the entire observation period of the volcano. The beginning of the period of activation of the volcano is determined by the change in the frequency of the lowest mode of natural oscillations.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity in determining the level of volcanic activity.
