FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to a method for modeling traumatic brain injury in rats, using an installation with a shock mechanism. The method is characterized in that, for an experiment, a device is used, based on a principle of transmission of kinetic energy of a falling cylindrical load exerting traumatizing impact on the rat brain with a rod moved in a central bushing, in an assembly with a load free falling along a guiding rod. Moreover, starting from a moment, when the load reaches an impact bushing rigidly fixed on the rod, the rod moves with the load, the impact bushing, and an impact platform hitting directly the rat head. The animal is fixed on an operational table with a shock-absorbing gasket under the lower jaw.
EFFECT: present invention allows for creation of conditions representing a clinical picture of severe traumatic brain injury without formation of satellite damages and without death of a laboratory animal, with maximum close characteristics of traumatic brain injury in a series of experiments.
