FIELD: satellite communication.
SUBSTANCE: user equipment receives at least one TAC, which is broadcasted using a network device, where TAC includes information about a geographical location, and information about a geographical location is used to indicate a geographical location of a set location point in TA, corresponding to TAC. User equipment determines, based on TAC and a tracking area list (hereinafter – TAL), whether it is necessary to update TAL. If it is determined that TAL is to be updated, user equipment transmits a request for updating a tracking area to the network device, and user equipment receives a response message to the request for updating the tracking area, returned with the network device.
EFFECT: provision of efficient avoidance of unnecessary tracking area update (TAU) and radio resource saving.
