FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to ophthalmology. An affected cornea area as well as the area on the border between the affected cornea area and its optically transparent part are scanned with a laser scanning tomograph Heidelberg Retinal Tomographer HRT-III with the Rostok Cornea Module attachment, Heidelberg Engineering with a wave length of 670 nm and scanning aera of 400×400 micrometer. If pathognomonic cytomegalic cells characterised by their round shape, presence of hyperreflective inclusions surrounded by a hyporeflective zone are found, and if these cells are at least 1.5 times larger than the surrounding cells, and their size is not less than 20 micrometer, cytomegalovirus epithelial and stromal keratitis are diagnosed.
EFFECT: invention provides for diagnosing cytomegalovirus stromal and epithelial keratitis among clinically similar keratitis in a timely and definite manner.
