SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal power engineering, in particular to methods for hydrophobizing a metal surface to stabilize drip condensation and protect against corrosion. The method for forming a superhydrophobic surface structure is based on the formation of a surface from micro- and nanoparticles. As said surface, a metal surface is used, which is treated with abrasive sand with a particle size of 10 to 100 µm, then carbon nanoparticles with a size of 1 to 100 nm are deposited on it from the gas phase. A layer of nanoparticles is impregnated with mineral oil and fixed with a 0.1% solution of rosin in ethanol.

EFFECT: increasing heat transfer during condensation due to an increase in condensation centers on the hydrophobic surface, as well as simplifying the technology for forming a hydrophobic coating by eliminating the processes of drying and laser processing.
