SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol generating device with temperature-based control, a method for controlling such a device and an aerosol generating system. The aerosol generating device (10) contains a cavity (14) for placing the substrate (54) forming the aerosol, and an electric heater (18) designed to heat the substrate (54) forming the aerosol when the substrate (54) forming the aerosol is placed in the cavity (14). The aerosol generating device (10) also contains a power source (26) and a controller (28) configured to control the supply of power from the power source (26) to the electric heater (18) during the first time period and the second time period after the first time period. The controller (28) is also configured to determine the rate of increase in the temperature of the electric heater (18) during the first time period by determining the necessary time to increase the temperature of the electric heater (18) from the first predetermined temperature to the second predetermined temperature during the first time period. The controller (28) is also configured to regulate the supply of power from the power source (26) to the electric heater (18) during the second time period based on a certain rate of temperature increase during the first time period.

EFFECT: prevention of overheating of the device generating the aerosol is provided.
