FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: it can be used to predict the risk of severe COVID-19 in a patient. Blood is taken for whole genome sequencing. Risk alleles for severe COVID-19 are identified. The coefficients of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from Table 2 are summed with the risk alleles identified in the patient for severe COVID-19 according to the formula:

where gi is the number of risk alleles for severe COVID-19, βi is the SNP factor from table 2, βage is the regression coefficient for the age variable equal to 0.02, β0 is the coefficient 0.48 for women or 0.71 for men, exp is the exponential function. If the value obtained is less than 0.5, a mild course of the disease is predicted. If the value obtained is greater than 0.5, a severe course of the disease is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides an effective prediction of the risk of developing a severe course of COVID-19 by using the original calculation formula.
