FIELD: sensors.

SUBSTANCE: acoustic impedance ultrasonic indicator is intended for detecting liquid or gas in the area under control. Said indicator is based on the fact that, upon immersing the sensing element in the controlled liquid medium, the ultrasonic wave therein attenuates due to the emission of part of the energy into the liquid, which is recorded by the electronic circuit. Acoustic waveguides are used for transmitting signals in the indicator. The sensing element, constituting a part of the cylindrical tubular body, is formed by a singular annular groove on the inner wall of the body. The piezoelectric converter consists of a disk-shaped piezoelectric element attached to a cone, and the cone is connected to the waveguide by the vertex. The indicator is also equipped with a heating element placed in the body in the immediate vicinity of the sensing element.

EFFECT: increase in the operating reliability of the indicator with a long waveguide when used in a wide temperature range and under high pressure, simplification and increase in the strength of the structure of the apparatus, and possibility of using the apparatus for monitoring viscous media.
