SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to obstetrics, and can be used for prediction of foetal growth retardation in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus requiring no insulin therapy. According to ultrasound findings, disturbed uteroplacental blood flow is determined. Mother’s blood VEGF-A concentration is determined by ELISA. Presence of the heterozygous genotype of the polymorphic marker eNOS G894T is determined. Obtained values are substituted into the formula for calculating the prognostic index P. If P>0.49, a high risk of foetal growth retardation is predicted. If P<0.49, a low risk is predicted.

EFFECT: method enables predicting foetal growth retardation in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus requiring no insulin therapy by calculating a prognostic index of foetal growth retardation using an original formula.
