SUBSTANCE: preparation of procaspase-3 is produced by co-expression of procaspase-3 cDNA and the Bir2 domain of the X-IAP protein in E. coli cells and subsequent isolation and purification of procaspase-3. The caspase-3 preparation is obtained by autocatalytic activation of procaspase-3 or activation by adding an active caspase-3 preparation to the procaspase-3 preparation.
