SUBSTANCE: sulphide compounds with a magnetostrictive effect. Invention can be used for the needs of microelectronics, seismography and space technology, in particular, for the creation of multifunctional magnetostrictive materials. Magnetostrictive material alpha manganese monosulphide with giant magnetostriction includes manganese and sulfur in the following ratio, wt.%: manganese 63.04, sulphur 36.96 or manganese 63.15, sulfur 36.85, or manganese 62.9, sulfur 37.1, while it has a cubic crystal structure, space group Fm-3m(225), with a unit cell volume .
EFFECT: new alpha manganese monosulphide with giant magnetostriction.
