FIELD: organic chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: process for the production of ethylene polymers Process involves the polymerization of ethylene or the copolymerization of ethylene and one or more comonomers at a temperature of from 180 to 350°C and pressure from 110 to 350 MPa in a continuously operating tubular polymerization reactor. The tubular reactor is equipped with one or more cooling jackets to remove the heat of reaction. The reaction mixture leaves the reactor through a pressure control valve and then passes through a post reactor cooler equipped with one or more cooling jackets. The cooling jackets cooling the post-reactor cooler are provided with at least two coolants having an inlet temperature and an outlet temperature, wherein the coolant inlet temperatures are independently adjustable. Coolants are fed into one or more cooling jackets cooling the polymerization reactor.

EFFECT: development of a method for producing ethylene polymers, which makes it possible to control the separation of polymer and gaseous components of the reaction mixture, control the granulation process and lead to a large amount of generated gas and high conversion of ethylene.
