SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for comparing the measurements of the position and profile of an object to be manipulated by means of a lifting device. To obtain indications in the centralized control unit configured to control the load handling device, position sensor data (301) is received from at least one position sensor, said sensor is configured to measure the position of the load handling device in the load lifting area. The speed (303) of the load handling device is determined and the positions of the object to be manipulated are specified based on the position data received from the position sensor. The updated position and profile data (305) are also compared to calculate the dimensions of the object.

EFFECT: automation of work is achieved.
