FIELD: instrument manufacture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical instrumentation, namely, to focusing apparatus. Apparatus for forming a "photonic" hook, consisting of an emission focusing apparatus used to focus emission from an emission source and having flat input and output apertures, made in the form of a cuboid made of a metamaterial with an effective refractive index in the range from 1.2 to 1.76, and the length of each side of the cuboid (L) is determined from the ratio L≈kλN, N=1, 2, 3 ..., wherein λ is the emission wavelength of the illuminating apparatus, k is the empirical coefficient k=0.98...1.2, is characterised by the emission focusing apparatus consisting of a grating of parallel metal plates of equal thickness positioned at an angle in the range of at least 30 and not more than 60 degrees to the incident emission, with the distance of no more than λ/2 between the plates.
EFFECT: focusing of an electromagnetic wave and creation of a "photonic" hook regardless of the refractive index of the environment.
