FIELD: bidirectional inter-prediction technologies.
SUBSTANCE: result is achieved by bidirectional inter-prediction method that includes determining the reference picture index i1 of the first reference picture list as the index of the first reference picture that corresponds to the current block and which is from the first reference picture list. Next, the index i2 of the reference picture of the second reference picture list is determined as the index of the second reference picture which corresponds to the current block and which is from the second reference picture list; and the current block is predicted based on the first reference picture index and the second reference picture index. Here, the picture sequence number POC corresponding to the reference picture index i1 is the POC that is closer to the POC of the current picture, for all POCs that are in the first reference picture list and that are less than the POC of the current picture.
EFFECT: increase of efficiency of image data processing by providing bidirectional inter-prediction.
