SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bidirectional inter-prediction methods and devices. Result is achieved by the fact that bidirectional inter-prediction includes: determining index i₁ of the reference image of the first reference image list as the index of the first reference image, which corresponds to the current block and which from the first reference image list; determining index i₂ of the reference image of the second reference image list as the index of the second reference image, which corresponds to the current block and which is from the second reference image list; and prediction of the current block based on the index of the first reference image and the index of the second reference image. POC corresponding to index i₁ of reference image is POC, which is closer to POC of current image, in all POC, which are in the first reference picture list and which are less than the POC of the current image, the POC corresponding to the index i₂ of the reference image is the POC, closer to the POC of the current image, in all POCs, which are in the second reference picture list and which are greater than the POC of the current picture, and the current picture includes the current block.

EFFECT: high coding efficiency.
