FIELD: biotechnology .
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology, specifically to agricultural biotechnology, and can be used to assess the breeding value of Duroc pigs by determining genotypes by the LEPR gene. The method includes the determination of genotypes by genetic engineering methods and subsequent selection of pigs with the AB I LEPR genotype and boars with the BB/LEPR genotype showing genetic predisposition to higher rates of growth energy, feed conversion and yield of the meat part of carcasses.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out effective diagnostics of the breeding value of Duroc pigs and to select animals with genetically confirmed breeding value at an early age, as well as to increase the well-established accuracy in breeding work and reliability in the genetic potential of breeding pigs.
