FIELD: aircraft instrument landing systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrument landing systems for aircraft, in particular to glide path and ILS localizer arrays. The claimed instrument landing system (ILS) comprises a plurality of antennas and a plurality of antenna radio units (ARUs). Each ARU of the plurality of ARUs is operable to generate a modulated radio frequency (RF) signal applied to a different antenna of the plurality of transmission antennas. The ILS also includes a central processing unit that is operable to control the ARUs to adjust timing between modulated RF signals provided by the ARUs to the plurality of transmission antennas.
EFFECT: solving potential synchronization problems that may arise in ILS architectures to ensure the coherence of the composite signal in space.
