FIELD: processing of materials by cutting.

SUBSTANCE: cutting plate comprises a front and a bearing surface. They are connected by the side surface with the formation of cutting edges at the intersection with the front surface. The plate comprises a central mounting hole, the axis of which passes through the centre of symmetry of the plate. The plate has the shape of a polyhedron formed by combining the sides of the first and second imaginary parallelograms having the same centre of symmetry as the cutting plate. The sides of the first parallelogram limit the sections of the cutting edges adjacent to the vertices most distant from the centre of symmetry of the cutting insert, which are located on the smaller diagonal of this parallelogram, and the sides of the second parallelogram limit the sections of the cutting edges adjacent to the vertices located on the smaller diagonal of the second parallelogram. On opposite sections of the side surfaces adjacent to the sections of the cutting edges, forming the vertices most distant from the centre of symmetry of the plate, bevels are made into the inside of the cutting plate at an acute angle to the plane of the supporting surface. The width of these bevels has a smaller value towards the intersection of the sides of the first and second imaginary parallelograms. The ratio of the diameter of the inscribed circle of the first parallelogram to the diameter of the inscribed circle of the second parallelogram is selected from the ratio of 1.05-1.4, and the ratio of their circumscribed circles, respectively, is selected from the ratio of 1.05-1.5.
