METHOD OF TREATING DISEASES OF THE TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINTS CAUSED BY OCCLUSAL DISORDERS IN PATIENTS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61C7/00

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the complex treatment of diseases of the temporomandibular joints caused by occlusive disorders in patients. An occlusal splint is made of a polymeric material for the dentition of the lower jaw. Then, the surface of the bus-registrar is corrected to the occlusal surface of the dentition of the upper jaw and the patient is adapted to the optimal position of the lower jaw within 2–3 months. After that, the bracket system is fixed on the upper dentition and the patient is simultaneously wearing the occlusal splint on the lower dentition, the occlusal plane is leveled for 2–3 months. Next, the bracket system is fixed on the lower dentition maintaining the functional position of the lower jaw found using the occlusal splint with the help of occlusal pads located depending on the type of bite, either in the area of the lateral teeth or in the area of the anterior teeth of the upper jaw. Further, leveling of the upper and lower teeth, alignment of the occlusal plane, bite correction with the help of intermaxillary elastics are continued, reaching multiple interdental contacts within 1.5–2 years.

EFFECT: method, through the use of an occlusal splint and subsequent orthodontic treatment, allows to create the optimal location of the intra-articular elements of the temporomandibular joints and to fix the effect obtained for a long time.
