FIELD: membrane permeate recycling system using hydrogen recovery units and pressure swing adsorption units.
SUBSTANCE: system for processing a dry gas stream is presented, comprising: a compressor arranged to receive a dry gas stream; a pressure swing adsorption unit arranged to receive a pressurized gas stream from said compressor to produce a finished hydrogen stream and a tail gas stream, said pressure swing adsorption unit comprising at least two outlets, one of which is configured to comprise a flow of finished hydrogen, and the second is configured to comprise a flow of residual gas; wherein the second outlet communicates with the first membrane unit for receiving a portion of the tail gas stream configured to produce a first permeate stream that is recycled and mixed with the dry gas stream and a first non-permeate stream; and a second membrane unit communicates with said pressure swing adsorption unit to receive a portion of the tail gas stream and configured to produce a second permeate stream and a second non-permeate stream, wherein the second membrane unit is configured to recycle the second permeate stream to the pressure swing adsorption unit in purge gas quality; the first and second membrane units are configured to direct the first and second non-permeate streams to the absorber unit, and the absorber unit is used to produce a fuel gas stream and a C3+ stream; the first and second membrane units are hydrogen selective.
EFFECT: creation of an improved membrane separation system, which provides a reduction in operating and capital costs, as well as an efficient extraction of hydrogen.
