SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bis{2-[(2Z)-4-hydroxy-4-oxobut-2-enoyloxy]-N,N-diethylethanamine} butanedioate of formula I, which can be used as an actoprotective facilities. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a compound of formula I. This process involves the interaction of maleic anhydride with distylaminoethanol and succinic acid in a molar ratio of 1.05:1:0.5. While maleic anhydride is dissolved in anhydrous ethyl acetate, at a temperature of 15–20°C, diethylaminoethanol is slowly added dropwise, the crystallizing maleic monoester of diethylaminoethanol is filtered off and succinic acid in anhydrous ethyl acetate is added to it at a reaction mass temperature of 15–20°C to form a suspension of the target product.

EFFECT: preparation of a new polyfunctional compound of formula I, which can potentially be used in medicine as an actoprotective agent, as well as the development of a simple method of its synthesis.
