SUBSTANCE: invention is related to physiology of agricultural plants and breeding. The method includes creating soil flooding regime in laboratory conditions on hydroponic installations, determining the content of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in leaves and the ratio of chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b in dynamics by phases of growth and development of plants at 3rd, 6th, 10th, the 15th, 20th and 24th days of the plants being in conditions of soil flooding with water up to 120% of the fresh groundwater. At the first stages of generative development, soybean varieties resistant to waterlogging exhibit fluctuations in the change in the content of chlorophyll b during the first 6 days of a sharp increase in soil moisture. The dynamics of the ratio of chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b is undulating with sharp fluctuations during the period of flooding. In varieties resistant to waterlogging, there are no fluctuations in the content of chlorophyll b in the leaves.

EFFECT: method provides for determination of indicators reflecting the resistance of soybean plants to waterlogging and flooding of the soil based on patterns in changes in the content of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b, and the ratio between them, based on the dynamics of the growth and development phases of plants of various soybean varieties.
