SUBSTANCE: object 1 is an aerosolizable aqueous composition for delivering cargo to lung cells, containing exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) having a surface coating of a hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymer, and the exosomes carry the specified cargo containing microRNA (miR), anti-miR, mRNA, long non-coding RNA, cRNA, small interfering RNA, short hairpin RNA, piwi-interacting RNA, regular-spaced clustered short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) RNA sequence, modifications of the above or engineered nucleic acid sequences, protein, cytokine or lipid, where the PEG has a molecular weight of less than 5 kDa, the surface coating covers at least 65% of the surface of the exosomes. Object 2 is a method of treating a patient having a lung disease including providing a composition, forming an aerosol of exosomes of the composition, and administering the aerosol to the patient.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining an aerosol containing exosomes which passes through the mucus layer with penetration into lung cells, for the treatment of lung diseases.
