FIELD: biotechnology; radiation therapy.
SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at reducing the viability of tumor cells through combined irradiation with different types of accelerated charged particles. To reduce the viability of tumor cells, ionizing radiation is applied to a suspension or monolayer of tumor cells that are in the stationary phase of culture growth. Two types of ionizing radiation are used: accelerated carbon ions and protons. The impact is carried out by two fractions with a time interval of 4 hours between them in the sequence "carbon ions — protons".
EFFECT: reduced viability of tumor cells and reduced physical dose of radiation to surrounding tissues.
