FIELD: welding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determining the chemical composition of a small diameter welding wire. To obtain a specimen of the welding wire, the wire is wound on holders, twisted into a bundle, and the bundle is cut to obtain two samples, each of which has a loop and a straight part. The end face of the straight part of the welding wire specimen is ground to form a platform on it for spectral analysis. In the optical system of the spectral device, the light fluxes of the spectral lines of the elements of the welding wire specimen are separated, which are converted in the recording device into electrical signals, and then into digital form, transmitted to the programmable device and calculated as a percentage of the concentration of chemical elements in the specimen.

EFFECT: possibility of determining the chemical composition of the welding wire with a diameter of 0.8 mm to 2 mm by the spectral method.
