FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding. Disclosed is a method of obtaining a sample for determining the chemical composition of a welding wire or rod of a welding electrode, which includes technological cleaning operations, cutting and further chemical analysis of welding wire or rod of welding electrode, consisting in installation of welding wire or welding electrode rod into holder body, their tight laying and fixation by means of clamping plate, moved by screw mechanism, and surface grinding. In the process of sample preparation, the samples are processed until a surface homogeneous in height is obtained using abrasive materials of different grain size and surface polishing.
EFFECT: invention provides reduced time for preparation and analysis, and also enables to obtain a smooth and uniform surface of the analysed material.
