METHOD OF DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE AND ESSENTIAL TREMOR Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B5/16 A61B10/00

Abstract RU 2800309 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for differential diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and essential tremor. A sniff test is performed. 60 odorant sticks are used, divided into 12 samples, 5 sticks in each sample. The patient wearing an eye patch sits with his eyes closed in front of the examiner. As a first test, the patient is asked to smell the first stick from the first test for 15 seconds. The patient remembers the name and smell of the odorant. Then the patient completes a subtraction task for 30 seconds. After that, he is offered 4 sticks from the sample, from which he needs to choose the smell that was remembered before the task. All 12 samples are also carried out. The test is assessed as 1 point and as positive if the patient correctly chose from four options the smell that he remembered before completing the task. With scores from 0 to 6, Parkinson's disease is determined. With scores from 7 to 12, essential tremor is determined.

EFFECT: method allows to carry out efficient and simple differential diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and essential tremor.
