FIELD: detection of prohibited items in areas with protected access.
SUBSTANCE: combined detector (1) contains an active metal detection system (10), at least one passive metal detection system (20) and a central processing unit (2). The active metal detection system (10) comprises at least two vertical supports (12) forming a passage between them, and coils (14, 15) distributed in said two vertical supports (12) configured to radiate an alternating magnetic field and made with the possibility of generating a signal characterizing the disturbance of the magnetic field caused by the passage of a person between two vertical supports (12). The passive metal detection system (20) contains at least one magnetostatic sensor (22) configured to generate a signal reflecting the intensity of the static magnetic field. The passive detection system (20) is placed in one of the vertical supports (12). The central processing unit (2) is connected to the coils (14, 15) and to at least one magnetostatic sensor (22) and is configured to receive and process a signal characterizing the alternating magnetic field disturbance and a signal characterizing the intensity of the static magnetic field, and also with the possibility of determining the temporal and/or spatial correlation of the signal characterizing the perturbation of the alternating magnetic field, and the signal characterizing the intensity of the static magnetic field.
EFFECT: possibility of detecting both small and large objects.
