SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detectors designed to detect unauthorized objects or materials in a protected access area. Said technical result is achieved by placing a person to be inspected in a first position inside detector (1); receiving first signals representing radiation energy when a person to be examined is in a first position; placing a person to be examined in a second position inside detector (1), wherein the second position is different from the first position; receiving second signals representing radiation energy when the person to be examined is in a second position; and based on the first signals and the second signals, an electronic image is created to determine whether the person to be examined is carrying the target object.

EFFECT: high reliability of detecting target objects carried by a person, even when these target objects are located in areas that are more difficult to investigate using radiation energy, which enables to reduce the amount of resources required to implement the method, while remaining fast, efficient and with a reduced frequency of false alarms.
