FIELD: biomechanical analysis.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cartridge for a biochemical analysis device having one or more active heating elements and a method for heating a cartridge for a biochemical analysis device. The cartridge contains a housing, an active heating element and a power supply connector. The housing may form a chamber in which a volume of reagent is stored. An active heating element can be built into the housing and located in close proximity to the chamber. The power supply connector may be connected to the housing and electrically connected to an active heating element built into the housing. The active heating element is configured to defrost the volume of the reagent inside the chamber in response to the supply of electrical power to the power supply connector.

EFFECT: adjustable and/or controlled active heating or heating of reagents within a consumable cartridge to achieve one or more target temperatures without generating warm spots or high temperature zones on the consumable cartridge that could affect the reagents stored therein.
