SUBSTANCE: method for producing granular sorbent for extracting lithium from lithium-containing brines includes obtaining a chlorine-containing version of double hydroxide of aluminum and lithium (DHAL-Cl) from a solution of aluminum chloride with an AlCl3 concentration level of 45-220 kg/m3 containing lithium, at an atomic ratio of Al:Li =2.0-2.3:1 with the addition of sodium hydroxide, according to the invention, the pH of the mixed solution is 4-5, the resulting DHAL-Cl is mixed with an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, taken in an amount of 10-15% (in terms of polyvinyl alcohol) from mass of LiCl⋅2Al(OH)3, stirred at a temperature of 60-80°C until a homogeneous mass is obtained, dried to a paste-like state and extruded, the extrudate is rolled, giving a rounded shape to the granules, the granules are heat treated at 105-120°C for 12-24 hours.

EFFECT: development of a technological method for producing granular sorbent for extracting lithium from lithium-containing brines.
