SUBSTANCE: method for localizing a gamma radiation source with a radiation monitor contains stages in which measurements are carried out using a radiation monitor containing a portal including gamma radiation detection units based on a CsI(Tl) scintillator, evenly placed inside racks, the number of detection units is greater, or is equal to two, the area of the controlled space is represented in the form of matrix Njk with step L1 vertically (j) and L2 horizontally (k), for each detection block the values of the net counting rate are normalized, the error matrix ∆njk is obtained, the minimum is searched for, the value of which determines the coordinates of the source location with coordinates j and k.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of determining the location of a gamma radiation source.
