FIELD: medicine; oncology.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns a method of treating inoperable squamous cell cancer of the head and neck. The method includes a two-component treatment regimen combining systemic chemotherapy and superselective intra-arterial administration of cisplatin at a dosage of 75 mg/m², followed by transarterial embolization of the target tumor artery. As systemic chemotherapy, docetaxel 75 mg/m² is administered intravenously, after which, during superselective intra-arterial therapy, the administration of cisplatin is distributed in such a way that 2/3 of the volume of cisplatin is administered ipsilaterally over 25–50 minutes, and 1/3 of the volume of cisplatin is administered contralaterally for 15–30 minutes, at a rate of 5–10 ml/min on both sides. Embolization of the target artery of the tumor, as well as the contralateral artery, is performed using an embolization coil. It is preferable to carry out ipsilateral administration of cisplatin within 32 minutes, contralateral administration of cisplatin within 20 minutes; it is optimal to administer intraarterial cisplatin at a rate of 7.7 ml/min.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of treatment and the overall survival of patients, and to transfer the patient from palliative to radical treatment.
