FIELD: encoding and decoding video and images.
SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed to increase the efficiency of video and image encoding and decoding. It is achieved by performing a conversion between a video region chrominance block of a video image and a coded representation of the video in accordance with the rule. Moreover, the rule states that due to the fact that the chromaticity block has size M×N, the chrominance unit is prohibited from being represented in an encoded representation using an intra-frame coding mode, where M and N are integers indicating the width and height of the chrominance unit, respectively, and the intra-frame coding mode comprises encoding the chrominance unit based on a previously encoded video region of the video image.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video and image encoding and decoding.
