FIELD: video processing tools.

SUBSTANCE: circuit is defined, for transforming between a video encoding tree node and a video bitstream, for separating the parent luminance block of the coding tree node and the parent chroma block of the coding tree node, and for predicting one or more luminance blocks from the said parent luminance block and one or more chroma blocks from to the specified parent chroma block. Transformation is performed according to the specified scheme, wherein the first scheme is applied to the node of the encoding tree for the first colour format, and the second scheme, different from the first scheme, is applied to the node of the encoding tree for the second colour format, different from the first colour format, in the case where the node of the coding tree satisfies a given condition relating to the size of the parent luma block, and in the second circuit for a coding tree node with a slice type being slice I, with a 4:2:0 colour format and with a parent luma block having a given size M×N, the parent luma block is allowed to be divided into two or more luma blocks with a horizontal binary tree (BT) division or a vertical BT division, and the parent chrominance block of a coding tree node is prohibited from being divided into a horizontal BT division or a vertical BT division, wherein the mode type of the two or more luma blocks are set to MODE_TYPE_INTRA or MODE_TYPE_INTER, where M and N are positive integers.
