SILOXANE MATERIALS FOR INSERT WITH HIGH REFRACTIVE INDEX FOR CONTACT LENSES CONTAINING EMBEDDED ELEMENT Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC C08G77/20 C08G77/32 G02B1/04

Abstract RU 2807549 C1

FIELD: contact lenses.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to an insert for insertion into a silicone hydrogel contact lens. An insert for implementation into a silicone hydrogel contact lens is proposed, with a cross-linked polymer material that contains: (1) repeating units of said at least one vinyl-functionalized polysiloxane, which contains at least two vinyl groups, each of which is directly attached to one silicon atom, and at least 15% by moles of siloxane units, each of which contains at least one phenyl substituent; (2) repeating units of at least one arylacrylic monomer; and (3) repeating units of at least one vinyl crosslinker, wherein the sum of the amounts of components (1) and (2) of the crosslinked polymeric material is at least 70% by weight based on the total weight cross-linked polymer material, where the cross-linked polymer material in a dry state is characterized by a glass transition temperature of more than 28°C, wherein the crosslinked polymeric material, in a fully hydrated state, has water content of less than 5% by weight, an oxygen permeability of at least 40 Barrer, and a refractive index of at least about 1.47. Silicone hydrogel contact lenses containing the specified insert are also proposed. The proposed insert is made from cross-linked materials that are rigid when dry at room temperature (from approximately 22°C to approximately 26°C), and are characterized by high oxygen permeability and high refractive index in a fully hydrated state.

EFFECT: such materials are suitable for the manufacture of inserts in contact lenses containing an embedded element for the correction of corneal astigmatism, presbyopia and colour blindness, as well as for imparting photochromic characteristics to the lenses.
