METHOD OF ASSESSING TYPE OF COURSE OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2807865 C1

FIELD: medicine, neurology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates is a tool that allows to provide a comprehensive assessment of the neurological deficit of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and to assess the more likely type of course of the disease at the current time of the treatment process. Assessment of the type of multiple sclerosis at a given time during the treatment process is carried out by performing the 25-foot walk test (T25-FW), the nine-peg test with the dominant hand (9-HPT D) and non-dominant hand (9-HPT ND), and the Symbol to Digit Matching (SDMT). Then, based on the test indicators, the combined clinical index (CCI) of multiple sclerosis is calculated using the following formula: CCI=0.168*T25-FW (sec)+0.153*9-HPT D (sec)+0.102*9-HPT ND (sec) - 0.075*SDMT (number of correct answers) - 3.049. When the CCI value is a positive number (>0), the type of course of multiple sclerosis is assessed as progressive/more aggressive course of the disease, and in the form of a negative number (<0) the type of course is assessed as remitting/more benign course of multiple sclerosis.

EFFECT: increasing the reliability of assessing the type of course of multiple sclerosis at a given time during the treatment process.
