SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurology, and can be used to predict the progressive clinical course of the disease in a patient with multiple sclerosis (MS). Patient’s sex, patient’s age at the moment of diagnosis, age of disease onset, EDSS score, average annual rate of MS exacerbations from the moment of disease onset are determined. Based on the obtained data, the probability of developing a progressive clinical course of multiple sclerosis (F) is determined by a given formula. At value F≥0.5, high probability of progressive clinical course of multiple sclerosis is predicted, with value F<0.5 – low probability.

EFFECT: method enables detecting patients with a difficult-to-treat progressive course of the disease, and will also allow making a balanced decision on the mode of monitoring the patient and prescribing the immunomodifying treatment from the standpoint of an individualized approach by assessing the set of the most significant indicators.
