FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a surge suppressor device with nonlinear current-voltage characteristics and can be used to protect the insulation of electrical equipment from lightning and switching overvoltages. The column of varistors comprises a protruding washer as a lower end electrode, made with a slot for filling the cavity with filling material, and a compensator washer as the upper one, whereas the frame is formed by spirally cross-winding of fibrous material of the same diameter and thickness along the entire length of the frame, the thickness of the end parts of the frame is increased by additional row winding of fibrous material, the polymer binder for impregnation of the fibrous material of the frame comprises zinc oxide varistor powder within up to 15 parts by volume, and the filling material comprises zinc oxide powder varistor within up to 18 volumetric parts.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability of the device.
