FIELD: dischargers.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dischargers and is a surge arrester of different nature comprising a housing and discharge modules. The discharge modules comprise insulating bodies and a number of electrodes placed in the insulating bodies and forming discharge gaps between the electrodes. The discharge modules are housed in a casing and electrically connected in series. The housing mechanical strength is greater than the discharge modules mechanical strength.
EFFECT: invention increases the reliability of the arrester due to the absence of rapidly degrading elements, in particular, varistors.
